- LR. LCUELL VAYNE Statement of Professional walifications My nnne is lowell Wayne. I am a chemist and environtental scientist associated with the Southern California Federation of Scientists.

I received ny Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of California at Eerkeley in 2937, and zy Th.D. in chemistry from the California Institute of Technology in 1949. In 1942 I received a certificate in Industrial Hygieno f rem Harvard University, based on completion of a Joint Pro 6:am totueen the Earvard School of Public Health and the Graduate School of Engineering.

Frnn 1937 to 1939 I wss employed by Shell Development Co., the research arn cf Shell Cil. Prom 1939 to 19hl I was a teaching assistant in the Department of Chenistry at the University cf Calif nia at Davis. From 1942 to 1946 I was an Industrial Hygiene Officer in the U.S.16vy.

From 1948 to 1949 I was a post-doctoral fellow in Chemistry at the Unisersity of Colorado.

Fron 1949 to 1953 I was a Fellcw at the Eellon Insitute of Industrial Posearch (now part of Carnegie-Fellon University).

Pron 1953-54 I was a Senior Thysical Chemist at the Stanford Research Institute (ncu 3RI, Interrational).

From 1954 to 1956 I was the Cccupational health Engineer at UCLA.

Pron 1956 to 1962 I waa a Research Ihotochemist with the Los Angeles County Air Tollution Centrol District.

From 1962 to 1972 I was at the University of Southern California as a Pescarch Associate cf the Allan Hancock Fourdation, and also part of that time as a Pescarch Associate of the School of Tublic Health Adtdnistration, involved in research en air pollution.

In 1972 I joined Facific Environmental Services, a company providing environmental services to 6cvernrental agencies and industry. Iancurrentlf

I have published approximately fif ty papers in various areas oN chemistry and environmental science.

I an a menber of AAAS, the New York Academy of Science, the American Chemical Society, Sicna X1, the American Industrial Hygience Association, the Air Follution Control Association (and chair cf its committee nr. che.  ? istry),

and was one of the original f ounders in the early 19:cs of w.at ic now the Southern California Federation of Scientists. ,
