IE BULLETIN 83-05 ASME NUCLEAR CODE PUMPS AND SPARE PARTS MANUFACTURED BY HAYWARD TYLER PUMP COMPANY NO. 1 AND 2 UNITS SALEM GENERATING STATION DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 In response to the referenced Bulletin, PSE&G has reviewed its use of pumps manufactured by Hayward Tyler Pump Company (HTPC) for the Salem Generating Station.
i Four HTPC pumps were purchased in 1978 for reducing the required recirculation time on waste holdup tanks.
None of these pumps has been installed; they are currently in storage on site.
Two of the pumps are to be installed in the liquid radwaste system, one per unit.
This application is classified as non-safety related; accordingly, the " Expanded Commissioning Tests and Inspections," issued January 21, 1983 as Attachment 2 to Bulletin 83-05, is not applicable to these pumps.
No HTPC spare parts have been purchased, nor is there any plan to purchase them.
In April 1982, HTPC was placed in an
" inactive" status in the Salem vendors list.
Any future use of HTPC pumps or parts at Salem will be reviewed by OA Nuclear Operations for conformance to the appropriate standards and specifications.
