Vogtle Electric Generating Plant - Units 1 and 2 50-424,50-425; Pullman Power Products Hanger Reinspection Findings Attention: Mr. James P. O'Reilly Gentlemen:

On July 15, 1983, Mr. C. W. Hayes of Georgia Power Company reported a potential deficiency to the USNRC concerning numerous discrepancies identified by Georgia Power Company Construction and Q. A. personnel in the installation of pipe supports. The reinspection was initiated due to questions raised by the USNRC Construction Assessment Team.

The reinspection team examined approximately 100 pipe hanger installations and due to the number of discrepancies identified, recommended that project management review the situation in more ' depth. On July 24, 1983, Georgia Power Company organized a task force of cognizant personnel to per-form an in-depth review and evaluation of the Pullman Power Products Program for the installation of piping systems, focusing heavily on pipe support

-installation and inspection.

At this time, Georgia Power Company cannot commit to a schedule for resolving this cor.cern.

Georgia Power Company intends to submit an interim report on this concern to the NRC by November 18, 1983.

This response contains no proprietary information and may be placed in the NRC Public Document Room upon receipt.
