Modification of Vacuum Breakers on Mark I Containments
Dear Sir:
Reference (b) requested that we provide you with the results of the plant unique calculations which provide the justification for the as-built acceptability of our vacuum breakers. The requested justification is provided in the enclosed report, " Improved Dynamic Vacuum Breaker Valve Response for Vermont Yankee". In addition, you should note that in 1980 we changed the valve disc from a cast aluminum disc to a tougher wrought aluminum disc material, thus providing improved resistance to cyclic loading.
