ZIMMER NUCLEAR POWER STATION - UNIT 1 10CFR50.55(e), ITEM M-40, INDETERMINATE HEAT TREATMENT FOR SMALL BORE PIPE W.O. 57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NO. 956C, M-40 This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject condition initially reported to the Commission on April 22, 1982 as a potentially reportable deficiency under the requirements of 10CFR50.55 (e).
As stated in our previous report, QA-2253, dated February 8, 1983, CG&E intends to perform destructive tests to determine the heat treatment for samples of the four heats of piping listed on Nonconformance Report (NR) E-4337.
Construction Work Authorization Requests (CWAR's) 86 through 89 have been submitted for approval to perform this work.

Completion of testing and required corrective actions are contingent upon NRC approval of the CWAR's or release of the NRC November 12, 1982 " Order to Show Cause and Order Immediately Suspending Construction".
A follow-up report will be submitted by June 15, 1983.
