DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 License Amendment Request Dated October 3, 1994 Emernency Diesel Generator Testing Reauirements Attached is a request for a change to the Technical Specifications, Appendix A of the Operating Licenses, for Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant, Units 1 and 2.
This request is submitted in accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR Part 50, Section 50.90.
The main purpose of this License Amendment Request is to provide a wider band during the 24-hour load test which is performed every 18 months. The specification currently calls for a 2 hour2.314815e-5 days <br />5.555556e-4 hours <br />3.306878e-6 weeks <br />7.61e-7 months <br /> run at 105 - 110% of the continuous load rating of the diesel generator.
This range is too narrow when we consider the potential instrument error and the inherent load swings associated with running the diesel generator connected to the system grid.
The proposed specification provides a range of an indicated load of 103 - 110%
of the continuous rating.

Exhibit B contains pages of the Prairie Island Technical Specifications rev1 sed to show the proposed changes.
Exhibit C contains the revised Technical Specifications pages.
