Enclosed is
" REQUEST TO PARTICIPATE AS INTERESTED MUNICIPALITY" for the City of Newburyport, Massachusetts, copies of which have been mailed to the Service List.
Please be advised that we wish the name of Mayor Richard E.
Sullivan be placed on the Service List, as the representative of this City in these proceedings.
Please be further advised that our interests lie as follows:
Emergency planning for protection of the public; Emergency planning exercises to assure the protection of the public; Warning of all the public; Radiation monitoring before and after the Plant opens; Amount of time in which contamination could reach the public; Insurance coverage for the public for nuclear accidents; Insurance coverage for the public for an evacuation (both for severe accidents and precautionary evacuation);
The establishment of safety standards related to radiation dosage not to be exceeded in the event of a nuclear acci-dent.
In addition to the above, we wish to be allowed to address any other subjects on which
" interested municipalities" are entitled to comment.
