River Bend Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-458 Interim Report /DR-61 On June 18, 1982, Gulf States Utilities Company (GSU) notified Region IV of a condition potsutially reportable under 10CFR50.55(e) concerring the length of the capscrew which holds the starting air valve assembly in the cylinder head of the River Bend Station standby emergency diesel

generators supplied by Transamerica Delaval. Delaval previously informed the NRC of this condition pursuant 10CFR21 in a letter dated May 13, 1982.
GSU has not completed its evaluation. Since our Interim Report dated September 2, 1982, GSU has been informed by our architect-engineer that access to the diesel generators to determine the capscrew length will be impractical until May 1983 because of construction in the area. An interim or final status report will be provided by Jetne 7, 1983.
