Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-416 License No. NPf-29 Reporting Requirement Due The Inoperability of PASS GNR0-91/00063 This letter documents a change in the reporting requirements for inoperability of the Post-Accident Sampling System (PASS),
in AECM 89-0137 (page 2, para, 1, sent. 2) dated July 27, 1989, GGNS committod to making a telephone notification to NRC Region 11 in the event the PASS aanel or a specific PASS sample pathway was inoperable for greater 11an 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br />.
The notification required descriaing the event and an assessment of planned actions to restore operability to be presented at that time.
Through discussions and further review GGNS has increased the work priority to restore PASS operability.
It was determined that the 24 hour2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> notification was no longer necessary.
Per verbal agreement with Region 11 management, the notifications should now be made within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> of exceeding 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br /> inoperability.
Additionally, it is our understanding that during modes 4 and 5, the Senior Resident inspector should be notified in the event that a PASS outage exceeds 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br />.
Therefore, administrative procedure 01-5-06-5 will be changed to reflect the new reporting guidelines.
