.This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject condition initiall y reported to the Commission on May 20, 1982 as a reportable deficiency under the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e).
Since our previ ous report, QA-2160, dated December 20, 1982, considerable progress has been made.
To date, 2495 weld radiographs have been reviewed and Nonconformance Reports initiated for resolution of those welds with identified problems.

Review of the remaining weld radiographs, approximately 600, is continuing, but has been delayed due to the manpower furnished t
to support the NRC Joint Evaluation Team and the National Board of Loiler Inspectors.
The review is now schedul ed for completion by April 19, 1983, and a f oll ow-up report will be submitted by April 30, 1983.
A Construction Work Authorization Request (CWAR) is being L
prepared to obtain approval to bl end grind and reradiograph.those welds with inadequate surface preparation.
Completion of this activity and implementation of any further corrective action is contingent upon the NRC's approval of the CWAR or release of the NRC November'12, 1982 " Order to Show Cause and Order Immediately Suspending Construction".
