. Reply to SALP Report NRC SALP Report Nos.

50-334/89-99 and 50-412/89-99 dated March 15, 1991 provided the SALP Board assessment of activities at Beaver Valley Power Station, Units 1 and 2 for the period September 1, 1989 through December 31, 1990.

One minor correction is noted.

On page 20, the number of SSFE's completed should be 3 versus 4.

Even though the Summary of Results on page P indicates no significant problem

area, we are determined to continue our improvement efforts to achieve a

top level of excellence in operations.

The following plans to improve our performance have been or will be initiated:

We have initiated a

definitive switchyard naintenance procedure to address recent industry problems.

An operator training class was initiated in 1990 and another class will 5+ initiated in the near-future.

M Operating and Maintenance Procedures ate being upgraded.

Training for our Radiation Technicians is being upgraded.

Our Chemistry program is being upgraded.

Our Surveillance Testing program is being enhanced to eliminate missed surveillances.

A qualified consultant is being added to the Offsite' Review Committee membership to provide additional exp3rtise in the area of nuclear power industry issues.

Other initiatives will be undertaken where appropriate to' strengthen our overall program.
