I am writing to support the request of Suffolk County Executive Peter F. Cohalan, dated February 23, 1983, that the NRC Commissioners immediately commenc6 action to termin-ate the Shoreham licensing proceedings.
The current continuing uncertainties over Shoreham's status are not beneficial to the public interest.
I strongly believe that Shoreham should not be permitted to' operate be-cause a local emergency preparedness plan is not possible, as
,3 determined by the government of Suffolk County.
I urge you therefore to terminate the Shoreham licensing proceeding as quickly as possible.
