Dear Members of the Commission:
I am wri,t.ing to support the request of Suffolk County Executive Peter F.
Cohalan, dated February 23, 1983, that the NRC Commissioners immediately decide whether the Shore-ham licensing proceedings should be terminated.
The current continuing uncertainties over Shoreham's status are not beneficial to the public interest.
I strongly believe that Shoreham should not operate.
Clearly, the Suffolk County legislature in a bi-partisan 17 to 1 vote, rejected the evacuation plan.
Therefore, I urge you to terminate the Shoreham licensing proceeding as quickly as possible.
