,, Chicago, Illinois 60690 March 24, 1983 Mr. Harold R. Denton, Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington,.DC 20555
Subject:
Dresden Station Unit 2
. Proposed Amendment to DPR-19 Technical Specification Concerning Technical Snubbers NRC Docket-No. 50-237-
Dear Mr. Denton:
Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.59, Commonwealth Edison proposes to amend Appendix ~A, Techical Specification to Dresden Station Operating License DPR-19.
Based on the results of analyses being performed to fulfill .
both' Mark I and I.E. Bulletin 79-14 requirements, a safety-related snubber was removed from Dresden Unit 2. A more' sophisticated analysis than previously performed negated the need for the subject snubber.- Therfore, in order to maximize the efficiency of the pipe support system this snubber has been removed. This deletion does not materially affect the piping stresses on that line which remains well within the original design basis for the Unit. Therefore, this proposed change does not increase the potential risk to public health and safety.
Attachment A to this letter provides the change requested.
This change has undergone .On-Site and Off-Site review and approval. ,
In accordance with 10 CFR 170 we have determined that this request consists of a combined Class II amendment. Accordingly, a fee remittance of $1200 is enclosed.
Please address any questions you may have concerning this matter to this office.
