Serial 17540, dated July 9, 1982 This letter, as were the referenced letters, is an interim 50.55(e) report concerning a potentially unsafe situation with respect to the tripping cf reactor coolant pumps during certain primary system high void fraction conditions.

On February 8, 1983 the NRC staff issued a generic letter (83-10) to all licensees requesting final action to establish reactor coolant pump trip criteria. This letter included a list of questions and considerations which the NRC staff requires more information on as backup documentation to support the selected RC pump trip criteria.

The B&W Owners Group is in the final stages of developing an analysis program which will establish the RC pump trip criteria and provide the requested backup analysis. A description of this program will be sabmitted by.

Consumers Power Company to the NRC staff within two weeks in response to the generic letter.
