ENCLOSUREl REPLY TO APPENDIX A OF NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-317/83-11; 50-318/83-11 ITEM A.1 Grab samples were not initiated while the Main Vent Particulate Monitor was inoperable due to a communications problem.

In the future when the Main Vent Particulate Monitors are inoperable, the operator who relays that information to the Chemistry group will be required to log the name of the individual receiving the information. When the Chemistry group is notified of Radiation Monitor System detector inoperability, they will obtain appropriate grab samples.

ITEM A.2 1

The Spent Fuel Pool Ventilation System High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter Test has I

been performed on the affected filters. To preclude the possiblity of missed surveillance during post fire recovery actions, a change is being incorporated into the Emergency Response Plan Implementing Procedures to ensure appropriate follow-up actions, (i.e.,

surveillance testing is performed.) This change to the procedures will be completed by no later than August 1,1983.
