STATUS OF RECOMMENDATIONS: AUDIT OF THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSIONS SPECIAL AND INFREQUENTLY PERFORMED INSPECTIONS (OIG-18-A-13)
REFERENCE:
DIRECTOR, OFFICE OF NUCLEAR REACTOR REGULATION, MEMORANDUM DATED FEBRUARY 19, 2020 Attached is the Office of the Inspector Generals (OIG) analysis and status of recommendations as discussed in the agencys response dated February 19, 2020.
Based on this response, recommendation 1 remains open and resolved. Please provide a status update for the open and resolved recommendation by July 31, 2020.

Audit Report AUDIT OF THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION'S SPECIAL AND INFREQUENTLY PERFORMED INSPECTIONS OIG-18-A-13 Status of Recommendations Recommendation 1: Update Inspection Manual Chapter (IMC) 2515, Light-Water Reactor Inspection Program - Operations Phase, Appendix C, Special and Infrequently Performed Inspections, and applicable Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) guidance to reflect the requirement to ensure consistent and periodic reviews of IMC 2515 Appendix C inspection procedures.
Agency Response Dated February 19, 2020: As stated in the June 27, 2019 memorandum, the staff updated IMC 2515, Appendix C on May 1, 2019, to include the following statement:
Each inspection procedure in the table below will be reviewed in accordance with the periodicity and process specified in Inspection Manual Chapter 0307.
As stated in the December 3, 2019, memorandum the NRC staff is performing a holistic review of IMC 0307, Reactor Oversight Process Self-Assessment program. As of the date of this memorandum, the staff has not completed issuance of the revised IMC 0307 that incorporates the resolution of this recommendation. However, the revision is expected to be complete by May 31, 2020, and will include revising IMC 0307 to match the 5-year review requirement periodicity specified in NRR policy OVRST-102.
