50-328 In my December 19, 1980 letter to A. Schwencer of the NRC, we provided a discussion on NUREG-0737 open items at our Sequoyah Nuclear Plant.
I For Item II.B.4 of NUREG-0737, we stated that an abbreviated operator training program for mitigation of core damage would be provided to managers and technicians in the Health Physics, Plant Chemistry, and Instrumentation and Controls sections. This training will be commensurate with their responsibilities in the event of a core damaging accident. The plant superintendents and assistant superintendents will not receive this training because they perform management roles rather than active operational roles during mitigation of core damaging events.
As stated in Supplements 2 and 5 to NUREG-0011, the NRC has concluded that TVA has provided an adequate training program for all licensed operating personnel and that the training program meets the requirements of II.B.4 of NUREG-0737 Therefore, we believe that we have satisfied the intent of NUREG-0737, Item II.B.4.
