Status of Four Remaining Modifications for IE Bulletins 79-02 and 79-14

Dear Sir:

This letter is intended to serve as notification of the completion of all plant modifications associated with IE Bulletins 79-02 and 79-14.

In the above Reference, Boston Edison Company identified the following four minor modifications as not being complete when we submitted the final report on IE Bulle-tins 79-02 and 79-14.

(1) H-29-1-9SG (79-02 Fix) Salt Service Water System Fix: Addition of washers to correct oversized bolt holes in base plate (2) H-30-1-286 (79-14 Fix) RBCCW System Fix:

Addition of bracing member with base plate (3) H-30-1-92 (79-14 Fix) RBCCW and TBCCW Systems Fix:

Increase weld sizes and add a bracing member (4) H-30-1-376 (79-14 Fix) RBCCW System l

Fix:

Increase weld sizes These modifications were minor in nature and neither system operability nor l

plant safety was affected.

Proposed modifications (2), (3) and (4), as listed above, were completed in May, l

1983. Proposed modification (1) was not implemented.

A structural reanalysis i

performed in April,1983, justified the structural acceptability of this support

. in its present condition.

As such, Boston Edison's FINAL REPORT to IE Bulletins 79-02 and 79-14 is now inclusive of all seismic Category 1 supports at Pilgrim Station.
