March 12, 2020 I am responding to your letter to David Lee, Acting Inspector General, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), February 10, 2020, in which you requested that Mr. Lee seek a written certification from the agency's general counsel that "he or she has not and will not permit retaliation or reprisals against anyone who has, or in the future makes, protected disclosures of presidential misconduct to Congress or Inspectors General." On March 11, 2020, Mr. Lee responded to your letter and noted that he had forwarded your request to the NRC's General Counsel so that the General Counsel may respond directly to your request.
In response to your request, please be advised that the NRC and I, as General Counsel, are fully committed to complying with all applicable whistleblower protection laws and regulations.
