July 29, 1994 Corgressnian Jenicc Leach FAX 326-5464 Davenport. Iowa 62803 Duir Mr. Leacht In Friday, July 22nd's Quod City Times appeared on article explaining l

that one of the reactors at the Cordova Nuclear Plant was going to be put bot.k in hervice af ter e routine inspection. It indicated that t,tuinless steel pipos which had cracked were going to be allowed to function without being repaired. it Aaid that the danger of leakago due to these cracks was within industry tolerante. I am not an expert in this field, however, I have attended NRC informational meetings at Cordova and know the plant to be approximately 75 to 30 years old.

I feel that Princeton residents are greatly suseptible to a nuclear r.rigin in the event of a problein at Cordova. A local farm customer drew my attention Lu the article and the fact that thousands of acres of farmland cculd bu Jcopardics from o nuclear problem.

1 feel that et the. minimur% en ir.formational meetiray should be held by the NRC to explain the rationale of the articles and what steps ore being tonen to insure the Snety of the plant and the area residents.

Liko our f arm custoner, I too would see three generations or my familios' et torts dest royed by a proDiem -wCordova.

I would appreciate your assistance in getting to the bottom of this problem.
