57300, JOB E-5590, FILE No. 956C, S-9 This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject condition initially reported to the Commission on May 13, 1983 as a potentially reportable deficiency under the requirements of 10CFR50.55 (e).
The subject condition was identified in Section 2.4.1.1 of NUREG-0969 " Report of the NRC Evaluation Team on the Quality of Construction at the Zimmer Nuclear Power Station" (April, 1983).
The potential deficiency is that " Soil structure and compaction outside the power block area was not monitored by a surveillance program during actual work to ensure any such areas do not interface with safety systems."
The proposed action is to provide a program which will identify all safety related structures and systems outside the l
power block where documentation is incomplete and/or missing.
l CG&E expects to submit a program to the NRC by September 15, 1983.
