I. E. Bulletin No. 83-03 Check Valve Failures in Raw Water Cooling Systems Of Diesel Generators
Dear Mr. Allan:
The Indian Point 3 diesel generators are supplied with cooling water from the normally operating service water system water header. Using the piping boundary criteria from Action Item 1 of the subject bulletin, a review was conducted of the piping loops which branch off the normally operating service water header to the diesel generators and through to the discharge canal.
It has been determined that there are no check valves located within the defined piping boundary.
Based on the above determination, there is no further action required to be taken by the Authority on the subject bulletin. Approximately 41 man hours were expended in investigation and preparation of this report.
