Umerick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2 Changes to National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit Gentlemen:
This letter is being submitted in accordance with the requirements of Section 3.2 of the Limerick Generating Station (LGS), Units 1 and 2, Environmental Protection Plans (EPPs), which stipulate that the NRC shall be notified within 30 days following the date of approval of a change to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit.
By letter dated July 28,1994, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources (PA DER) approved PECO Energy Company's request to revise LGS NPDES Permit No. PA0051926 to permit the use of a chemicai additive (i.e., Sodium Bromide 40) to control corrosion in the secondar, cooling water system at LGS. A copy of the PA DER letter approving this change to the LGS NPDES permit is attached. We have ccnpleted our review of the infonration submitted by you and hereby approve your request to use the follcwing chemical additive in the cooling tcwers at Limerick Generating Station. The approval is subject to the follcwing conditions:

The approved additive and usage rate are the follcwing:

Usage rates of the additive, and blcw & n discharge rates shall be controlled by the permittee to ensure that toxic effects in the receiving stream are prevented. Usage rates shall be limited to the minimum arrount necessary to accccplish the interded purposes of chemical addition.

Accurate records of usage (name of xHitive, quantity added, date ackkd) of any approved chemical aoditive and of blow-dcwn discharge l
volumes must te traintained and kept on-site by the permittee.
