This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject condition, initially reported to the Commission under the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e).
Our last report, QA-1784, dated May 26, 1982, stated that the Quality Confirmation Program (QCP) was scheduled for completion by December 31, 1982.
Because the "Show Cause Order and Ordet Immediately Suspending Construction",
has required additional quality reviews and verifications, completion of the QCP will not be accomplished by this date. The restrictions of the current Order imposed by the NRC makes it impossible to provide a definitive completion date for the QCP at this time. When the required approvals from the NRC, Region III have been obtained for the organization to perform the management reviews and when the recommendations for construction and quality assurance management have been accepted, a more definitive schedule can be provided.
Meanwhile, the Commission's site representatives are provided with a monthly status report. A final report will be submitted upon completion of each task in the QCP.
We trust the above will be found acceptable as an interim report under 10CFR50.55(e).
