As residents of Long Island we are deeply cone'erned 7.
about the threats posed by the opening of the Shoreham nuclear plant in our neighboring county.

As you know Suffolk County in which the ulant.is housed has deemed it impossible to evacuate the Island in"the G
event of an accident at the plant.
Long Island is unique in that it is heavily populated and has few main roads in and out of the specific area in question.
Normal traffic takes hours' to move through the area in question during normal rush hours.
In the event of an accident local residents would be trapped.
No adequate plan for evacuation has been developed.
It is' questionable that there can be one.

This makes
