p UNITED STATES HUCLEAR REGULATORY C0l? MISSION DOCKET NO. 50-370 PCGUIRE NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT HO. 2 NOTICE OF ISSUAHCE OF M4EHDPEHT TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE On f4 arch 3,1983, the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Coranission (the Comission) issued Facility Operating License No. NPF-17 to the Duke Power Company (the licensee) authorizing operation of the McGuire Nuclear Sta-tion, Unit 2, (the facility) at reactor core power levels not in excess of 3411 regawatts themal in accordance with the provisions of the License, the Technical Specificatior.s and the Environmental Protection Plan with a condition limiting operation to five percent of full power (170 negawatts thernal).

The Comission has now issued Amendment No. 2 to Facility Operating License No. hPF-17 which authorizes operation of the McGuire Nuclear Station, Unit 2, at reactor core power levels not in excess of 3411 cegawatts thermal in accord-ance with the provisions of the amended license. As part of this authorization, the amendpent also changes the license conditions related to environmental qualification of equipnent and hydrogen control neasures and adds a license condition requiring testing of reactor trip breakers.   • Commission's regulations. The Comnission has nade appropriate findings es required hy the Act and the Commission's regulations in 10 CFR Chapter 1, which are set forth in the anended license. Prior public notice of the' overall action involv-ing the proposed issuance of an operating license was published in the Federal Register on October 7,1974 (39 FR 36037). The increase in power level author-ized by this amendment and the conditions contained therein are enconpassed by that prior notice..

The Connission has determined that the issuance of this anendnent will not result in any environmental impacts other than those evaluated in the Final Environmental Statement since the activity authorizem hy the license is encot-passed by the overall action evaluated in the Final Environmental Statement.
