Dear Mr. Collins:

e River Bend Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-458 Interim Report /DR-68 On August 12, 1982, Gulf States Utilities Company (GSU) notified the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Region IV Office of a condition potentially reportable under 10CFR50.55(e) concerning the application of a incorrect preservative, Tectyl 506, on the High Pressure Core Spray Diesel Engine valve mechanism and piston (DR-68). GSU's investigation is not complete at this time. An interim or final status report will be provided by December 8, 1982.
