57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NO. 956C, E-42 This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject condition initially reported to the Commission on March 7,
1983 as a potentially reportable deficiency under the requirements of 10CFR50.55 (e).
As stated in our previous letter, LOZ-83-0012, dated March 28, 1983, review of the essential circuit breakers at this facility identified 57 of the subject trip units.
The corrective action for this deficiency is to replace the capacitor or replace the entire trip unit.
Work requests are being prepared to remove the defective units from service.
The trip units will then be returned to the manufacturer for replacement of the capacitor and calibration and testing of the unit.
Scheduling and completion of the corrective action is contingent upon the NRC approval of these work requests or the NRC release of the November 12, 1982 " Order to Show Cause and Order Immediately Suspending Construction".
Upon this NRC approval or release, a projected schedule for completion of the corrective actions will be submitted.
