57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NO. 956C, E-40 This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject conditions initially reported to the Commission on February 25, 1983 as a potentially reportable deficiency under the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e).

Our previous response, LOZ-83-0001, dated March 21, 1983, identified the two potential deficiencies, insufficient clearance between the armature tail piece and the molded posts on either side and the excessive length of the uninsulated flexible leads to the moveable contacts.

The corrective actions for the two deficiencies require inspection of the relays and either replacement of the defective relay or installation of heat shrink tubing on relays with excessive lead length, Scheduling and completion of the required inspection and i

repair or replacement of the affected relays is contingent upon the NRC release of the November 12, 1982 " Order to Show Cause and Order Immediately Suspending Construction" for this work.

Upon this NRC release, a projected schedule for completion of the l

corrective actions will be submitted.
