'g O ~7 - Address Reply to: Post Office Box 767 A / Chicago, Illinois 60690 September 23, 1982 Mr. A. Schwence r, Chie f Licensing Branch #2 Division o f Licensing U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555

Subject:

LaSalle County Station Units 1 & 2 Electrical Separation Test NRC Docket Nos. 50-373 and 50-374 Reference (a): NPF-ll, License Condition 2.C.(24).

Dear Mr. Schwencer:

Reference (a) requires that: " Prior to startup a f ter the first refueling outage, the licensee shall provide adequate separa-tion or barriers between Class 1E and adjacent non-Class lE cable trays." It is Commonwealth Edison Company 's intention to perform an electrical separation test to demonstrate that the current configuration provides adequate separation.

During conversations with Dr. A. Bournia and Mr. John Knox, it has been indicated that that NRC desired to review the test configuration prior to the test to assure that the NRC concurred that the test, as proposed, would fulfill the test purpose. Enclosed please find the 9-22-82 revision o f " Electrical Separation Test."

This has been modified as a result of our previous discussions with

, the staff. It is requested that the NRC provide detailed written comments, if any , by October 8, 1982. This time frame is requested because of the previous NRC delays in review and the licensee's

, desire to meet the current license condition due date. Commonwealth l Edison will proceed with issuance of bids based on this program if j no NRC written comments are received.

l Thank you for your prompt attention in this matter. If l

there are any further questions or detailed written comments on this program, please direct them to this o f fice.

Enclosed for your use are one (1) signed original and thirty-nine (39) copies o f this letter and the enclosure.

Very truly yours,
