Dear Ms. Adensam:
In the Matter of
)
Docket Nos. 50-327 Tennessee Valley Authority
)
50-328 The Sequoyah Nuclear Plant unit 1 operating license condition 2.C.(8) requires TVA to reinspect the low pressure turbine disks for cracks before startup after the second refueling outage. We performed an inspection during the unit 1, cycle 1 refueling outage. The inspection revealed four minor indications of which no indication of any radial depth was found.
The evaluation of these four indications, by TVA and Westinghouse Electric Corporation, has determined these indications to be assembly scratches or tool marks, and not cracks. These inspection records are on file and are available for inspection at your convenience. Accordingly, we consider this license condition to be satisfied by this inspection and notification of the results provided by this letter.
If you have any questions concerning this matter, please get in touch with Jerry Wills at FTS 858-2683 Very truly yours, t
