50-260 50-296 Generic Letter 83-08 from D. G. Eisenhut to Those listed dated February 2, 1983 summarized the potential problem and ongoing work regarding the Mark I containment drywell/wetwell vacuum breakers. The letter requested that we provide a commitment to submit the results of the plant unique calculations done to support acceptability or required modifications of the vacuum breakers. The letter requested a schedule for completion of any modifications.
In response to the generic letter, we commit to submit the calculations for any drywell/wetwell vacuum breaker modification or acceptability for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. This submittal will be separate from the Mark I Containment Plant Unique Analysis (PUA), which will summarize the long-term torus integrity program modifications. We will submit a schedule for performing any modifications to these vacuum breakers once the calculations are complete and the modifications are identified.
