IP. letter, Y-7725, dated March 16, 1982) of

'9 a potential reportable deficiency per 10 CFR 50.55(e) concerning intermittent shorts to ground occurring in instrument cable due to method of termination and tape practices.

Our investigation of this matter has not been completed, and this is an interim report per 10 CFR 50.55 (e)(3).

Preliminary investigations have revealed that six (6) terminated IE instrument cables may be affected by the suspect termination / taping practices.

A Nonconformance Report (6507) was initiated to document and control these specific cases.

Additionally, a STOP WORK was initiated to cease work on termination of all IE instrumentation cable until this matter has been fully evaluated and resolved.

We anticit ate that we will need approximately ninety (90) days to complete our investigation of this matter.

At such time we hope to be able to provide further details and conclusions regarding the reportability of this potential deficiency.

Very truly yours, lA.
