. Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555 Attention:.Ms. E. G. Adensam, Chief Licensing Branch No. 4 Re: McGuire Nuclear Station Docket No. 50-370
Dear Mr. Denton:
As requested by members of your staff, Duke Power Company is submitting this letter to' clarify certain statements that were made in our letters dated May ll, 1983 and May 12, 1983 regarding environmental qualification of electrical equipment. The first clarification concerns the statement in the May ll, 1983 letter that equipment covered by the Franklin Research Center Technical Evalua-tion Report and the associated resolutions apply equally to McGuire Unit 2 unless specifically stated otherwise. The intent of this was to note that all outstanding items will likewise be resolved on Unit 2, and furthermore, resolu-tion will be consistent with the requirements contained in 10 CFR 50.49(g) that apply to holders of operating licenses issued prior to February 22, 1983.
Differences noted between the units apply to TER items 33, 34, 38 and 41 related to Barton Lot 2 transmitters utilized on Unit 1.
The Barton Lot 4 and 5 trans-mitters that are or may be utilized on Unit 2 are addressed in Duke Power Company's letter dated May 12, 1983.
The second clarification concerns the response to SER Section 7.8.3.2.1.2 contained in our May 12, 1983 letter as it relates to the isolation of non-
' safety-related-loads. Non-safety-related loads receiving power from safety-related buses are automatically tripped from these buses by safety-related breakers receiving a trip signal (Ss) generated by the plant protection system.
Please. advise if there are additional questions regarding this matter.
Very truly yours,
/
Hal B. Tucker NAR/php
