Snubbers Designed In Bottaned Out Position NE File 3.1051
Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
On Ebbruary 16, 1982, Mr. Virgil Brownlee of NRC Region II was notified of a potential substantial safety hazard concerning the design of supports utilizing snubbers. This itsu is being reported as a p tential substantial safety hazard under the provisions of 10CFR21. This letter constitutes an interim report on this matter.
Ebur supprts were discovered during snubber surveillance in which mechanical snubbers were designed in a bottaned out condition. At the tine these snubbers were identified, approximately half of the total snubbers in the plant had been checked.
The snubber surveillance procedure is in progress and is expected to be completed by March 30, 1982. A final report on these four and any alditional supprts found deficient during conpletion of the procedure, will te made at that time.
