Dear Commissioners:

Many citizens of the State of New York and neighboring states have in the past expressed concerns about the great risks posed by the Indian Point power plants.

On Friday April 15th, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in its " Post Exercise Assessment", concluded that they could not assure that public health and safety can be protected in the ten-mile emergency planning zone surrounding the plants.

I understand that on June 9th, you will be making a decision on whether or not to shut the plants down.

In view of FEMA's findings, I strongly urge you to vote to suspend the plants' operating licenses.

Sincerely, l

!717 H Street NW Washington, DC 20005 Gentlemen:

This letter vill verify the position that the Yorktown Town BoaM has taken over a long period of time with regaM to the Nuclear Power Plant located at Indian Point, New York. The Town Boad feels that the plant should remain closed untilit is determined whether or not the plant is safe or unsafe. In addition, we would like to reiterate our support for a logical, workable evacuation plan.

We would appreciate your making our position part of the permanent recoM of the NRC.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely, Nancy R. Elliott Supervisor dfc
