Dear Sir:

This Special Report is submitted in accordance with LaSalle Unit 1 Operating License NPF-11, Appendix B, Technical Specification 3.3.7.9 and 6.6.c.

On July 15, 1982, the ultraviolet fire detectors for Unit 1 and Unit 2 Refuel floor were taken out of service and a Special Report from R.

H. Holyoak to James G. Keppler, dated August 10, 1982, was submitted in accordance with the action statement of Technical Specification 3.3.7.9.

As stated in the report, the U-V fire detectors were to be inoperable until completion of welding in Unit 2 containment (approximately nine months from the date of report).

As a result of continued Unit 2 construction work, the U-V fire detectors will be out of service until Unit 2 fuel load, which is currently scheduled for the fall of 1983.

At this time, the Unit 1 and Unit 2 refuel floors are not considered as part of the Uni t i secondary containment as defined in the LaSalle County Station FSAR, Appendix N.
