Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (TMI-1)
Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 Fire Protection Program Administrative controls to prohibit smoking in TMI-1 safety-related areas have been implemented. This closes Item 3 1.18 of the TMI-1 Fire Protec-tion Safety Evaluation Report (FPSER).
The results of an evaluation of the fire protection for the Relay Room (FPSER Item 3.2.13) indicate that fire hoses could effectively suppress a cable tray fire in any area of the Relay Room. Hose reels vill be in-stalled in locations near the Relay Room per commitments identified in our letter of June 12,1978 (GQL 1068) and as part of the FPSER Item 31.2.
Since the area will be effectively covered by manual hoses, Met-Ed plans no additional protection for this area.
