REPORT ON INTRODUCTION OF SALT i

NO. 1 UNIT HYDRAZINE ADDITION TANK 1

At approximately 1300 hours0.015 days <br />0.361 hours <br />0.00215 weeks <br />4.9465e-4 months <br /> on September 12, 1980, Security Supervisor, T. J. Lesh, was notified of the alleged incident by R. A.

Silverio, Assistant to Manager.

Mr.

L.

Norrholm, Resident NRC Inspector, was immediately notified.

Analysis of samples taken from the Hydrazine Addition Tank showed 570 ppm Sodium and 1210 ppm Chlorides were in the tank.

An anonymous telephone call indicated the salt may have been added prior to a labor strike by person (s) unknown.

The total elapsed time the Hydrazine Addition Pump was activated was approximately 45 minutes.

The Security Supervisor attempted to contact Mr.

W.

Devlin, Chief, Security and Investigation Section, Safeguards Branch.

Mr. Devlin was in conference and returned the call at 1551 hours0.018 days <br />0.431 hours <br />0.00256 weeks <br />5.901555e-4 months <br />, September 12, 1980.

The Security Supervisor discussed the incident with Mr. Devlin.

Additionally, it was mutually agreed that the station Security Supervisor contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Mr. John Camera, FBI Camden office, was contacted at 1600 hours0.0185 days <br />0.444 hours <br />0.00265 weeks <br />6.088e-4 months <br />, September 12, 1980, by the Security Supervisor.

All information known at that time was given to Mr. Camera.

Mr. Camera-stated that he would check with his supervisors in Newark, New Jersey, to see what the involvement of the FBI would be in this matter.

In a subsequent telephone call, Mr. Camera stated, "The FBI will investigate the incident."

The New Jersey State Police were contacted since there was reference that the salt addition was introduced prior to the strike against PSE&G by station personnel during which telephone service was disrupted and is being investigated by the State Police.
