! concern over the Indian Point nuclear reactors located at Buchanan, New York, and i'

WHEREAS, the County of Rockland has been an active participant in the ongoing Atomic Safety and Licensing Board hearings on off-site evacuation planning for the Indian Point nuclear reactors, and 3

WHEREAS, the Rockland County Legislature, by Resolution No. 473 of 1982, established a Citizens Advisory Committee to Review Rockland County's Own Nuclear Evaucation and Preparedness Plan as prepared by the Rockland County Office of -

Emergency Services, and I

WHEREAS, the aforesaid Citizens Advisory Committee has proceeded with all l due speed and diligence to review Rockland County's Own Nuclear Evacuation and j Preparedness Plan, and f

WHEREAS, completion of the review process by the Citizens Advisory Committee l and forwarding of its recommendations to the Rockland County Legislature will not occur for a substantial period of time, and

} WHEREAS, the New York State Office of Disaster Preparedness has prepared emergency plans and has in the past represented to the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission that it has developed such plans and could impose them upon Rockland County in the event of a nuclear accident at Indian Point, now, therefore, be it

! RESOLVED, that the Rockland County Legislature hereby memorializes the Hon.

! Mario Cuorr.o, Governor of the State of New York, to direct the New York State Office

{ of Disaster Preparedness to refrain from making any representation to the Federal 1 Emergency Management Agency or the Nuclear Regulatory Commission regarding the i feasibility, adequacy or implementability of said State plan, and be it further

! RESOLVED, that the Legislature of Rockland County hereby requests the active l cooperation of the Hon. Mario Cuomo, Governor of the State of New York, in bringing about a shutdown of the Indian Point nuclear reactors until such time as an acceptable

! and implementable Radiological Evacuation Plan has been approved by the Rockland
