IE Bulletin 82-04: Deficiencies in Primary Containment Electrical Penetration Assemblies, dated 12/3/82.
Gentlemen:
The referenced bulletin identified several deficiencies that had been found at various plants in certain electrical containment penetrations manufactured by the Bunker Ramo Company. These deficiencier included improper lug crimps at vire terminations, incorrect vire lug types, loose vir connections on terminal blocks, and missing and cracked insulation. Based on your investigations, you had determined that these problems represented potential generic safety implications at a limited number of plants, and were applicable only to Bunker Ramo penetration assemblies that employed the hard epoxy module design.
Consequently, the referenced bulletin requested that we inspect, test and/or repair Bunker Ramo-supplied electrical penetration assemblies utilizing the hard e3~;y module design if such penetrations are installed in safety-related systems at Calvert Cliffs.
In response to this request, please be informed that we have replaced our Bunker Ramo electrical penetrations utilizing the unitized header design (Type 2E) with Conax Corporation penetrations. These h

Mr. R. C. Hayn;g Paga 2 March 1, 1983 replacement actions were completed during the Unit 1 Cycle 6 and Unit 2 Cycle 5 refueling outages. Consequently, the various deficiencies identified by the referenced bulletin regarding epoxy modules supplied by Bunker Ramo are not applicable to Calvert Cliffs.
