This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the referenced subject conditions initially reported to the Commission under the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e).

Since our previous report, QA-2185, dated December 29, 1982 Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company (CG&E) and Sargent & Lundy Engineers (S&L) have completed the review of the radiographs associated with the Sacrificial Shield Welds. These welds were reviewed to the criteria established in paragraph UW-52 of the 1971 Edition of the ASME Code,Section VIII. With the exception of seven (7) films all views are acceptable. The unacceptable areas have been identified and corrective action is being determined.

Review of Radiographic film of welds associated with both the monorail and Vent Stack have also been performed by CG&E.

Several of these welds were originally radiographed in the as-welded condition.

These areas will be surface prepared, as required, re-radiographed and the new film evaluated. This process can begin when an NRC release of the " Order to Show Cause and Order Immediately Suspending Construction" *or work in this area is granted. A follow-up report will be submitted by May 31, 1983.
