Gentlemen:
This letter constitutes a follow-up report to our report QA-2030, dated November 2, 1982, concerning the subject condition. As stated in

that report, the Zimmer Quality Confirmation Program and CG&E Quality Engineering have been reviewing and evaluating the adequacy of H. J.
Kaiser welding procedures.
A Welding Review Group has been formed to investigate and resolve any problems with HJK Welding Procedures. This group is comprised of representatives from the following organizations:
CG&E Nuclear Engineering Department CG&E Quality Confirmation Program CG&E Quality Engineering Sargent & Lundy Engineering H. J. Kaiser Weld Engineering H. J. Kaiser Quality Engineering All revisions of each Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) will be reviewed and a qualification review package developed. Each package will contain the original weld documents and other supporting data. The review will be accomplished according to approved procedures and divided into Phases of (1) Problem Identification (2) Technical Evaluation and (3) Problem Resolution. Where Welding Procedures or their qualifications are determined to be inadequate, the Welding Review Group will develop a corrective action plan to address any hardware related concerns as required.
