Docket No. 50-5 Gentlemen:
In accordance with section 59(b) of 10 CFR 50, The Pennsylvania State University Breazeale Nuclear Reactor reports certain minor changes made to its facility during the calendar year 1982. These changes are as follows:
- 1. On November 17, 1982 a new submersible water pump was installed for the purpose of diffusing nitrogen-16 from the reactor core. This pump has pumping characteristics sindlar to those of the pump it replaced. The new pump is of submersible design, thereby eliminating the objectionable noise level generated by its predecessor. The old pump was in operation for over 15 years and replacement parts for it are no longer available.
- 2. Throughout the. year, minor changes were made to the facility procedures. These enanges were made to update procedures to correct' for equipment changes, and to clarify references among procedures.
'Also, please find enclosed a copy of the Twenty-seventh Annual Progress Report of The Pennsylvania State University Breazeale Nuclear Reactor. This report covers the period from July 1, 1981 to June 30, 1982.
