Dear Mr. Keppler:

DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 FURTHER RESPONSE TO IE BULLETIN 79-14 POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 IE Bulletin 79-14 requires licensees to verify that the as-built, safety-related piping systems conform to the as-designed seismic analysis and acceptance criteria.

This letter is our eleventh submittal regarding IE Bulletin 79-14 and supplements our previous responses.

The present status of our program and the actions planned for completion of work in response to IE Bulletin 79-14 are as follows:

Of the 1,029 mechanical corrections identified in our a.

July 28, 1982 submittal, all but two corrections, which require a core unload, were completed by October.1, 1982.

However, review of the final as-built configuration of these corrections resulted in 14 additional mechanical corrections.

These corrections have been installed.

The two remaining corrections require that a weld'be Since made to residual heat removal system piping.

these welds can be made only with the piping drained, these corrections cannot be completed until the next These will be done during core unloading of each unit.

the refueling outage on Unit 2 in 1983 and the refueling outage on Unit 1 in 1983.

Mr. J.

G. Keppler January 31, 1983 b.

Of the 129 isometric drawings for safety-related piping, all but two were expected to be completed by December 31, 1982.

However, the additional mechanical corrections noted above required further changes to ten of these drawings.

These changes are in progress and are expected to be completed by April 1, 1983 except for two drawings related to the mechanical corrections requiring a core unload.

The latter drawings will be completed as soon as practicable following installation of the mechanical corrections.

Based on the above, we expect our next report to be submitted in April 1983.

If you require any additional information at this time, please contact me.

Very truly yours, hU Vice President - Nuclear Power C. W. Fay Copy to NRC Resident Inspector l
