Th!s letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject deficiency reported under the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e). Our last report on this matter was submitted on November 24, 1982.

The report identified the corrective action that is being implemented to resolve this item. The status of each of the corrective actions is discussed below.

1. The Stop Work (82-05) issued on October 12, 1982, suspending the installation and termination of non-essential and associated cables in Category I structures is still in effect.

This order will not be rescinded until items 2 and 3 below are complete.

2. Construction and inspection procedures have been revised.

The procedures for cable pulling have been approved and issued. The procedures for Raceway Installation and Cable Termination are currently undergoing review. We anticipate that these procedures will be approved by February 28, 1983.

3. The contractor's construction personnel and QC inspectors will receive training on the construction and inspection procedure and the applicable design documents in accordance with the contractor's QA prograu. CG&E's QA personnel will assure compliance to this requirement. Training of the above personnel currently on site will be completed after the procedures are approved and issued so that work on non-essential systems can be resumed in accordance with Show Cause Order CLI-82-83.

4. Procedures for the review of electrical separation of cables in essential panels are being prepared. We anticipate approval and implementation of these procedures by February 1, 1983. A preliminary schedule indicates completion of this review by June 30, 1983.

Our next report on this matter will be submitted on July 29, 1983.

We trust that this will be found acceptable as an interim report under 10CFR50.55(e).
