Walf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation (WCtOC) had only one pasitive chanical substance scIven during the puried July 1,1990 through Decader 31, 1990. This test was a positive alcohol screen on an employee. The employee as Ivforred to our EAP and returned to work af ter empletion of a rohabilitaticn program. This m ployee was also placed on folicw-up testing.
Initiativus tAmn. The R20C Access Screening group, including collection site personnel, ard a select group of WCNOC Security Officers received training frm the Yansas }tighway Patrol on aloahol detection on !bvember 27, 1990, at an off-site location. The swan-hour training session consisted i tilrect observaticn of persons who had consmed measured anounts of alcohol, administered by the ransas Highway Patml.
Field sobriety tests wru administerud by the Sec=1ty Officers under the supervision of the Patrol which included a walk and turn test, one-1 q stand test and horizontal gaze 4
nystagmus test. 7bst subject Imc Iwels wrv nonitored by an Intoxilyzer 5000. A prinary objective of training was to obcerve the physical and motional characteristics of persons at different Imc levels, including the very low levels that might be expected in a nuclear pcuor plant (e.g., 0.04%
IRC). The training did dmonstrate noticeable inpairnent in notor coordination and nystagmus in sme persons who were taruly over the 0.04%
NRC positive level, although it was very difficult to detect. 7bams of trainees wre requirud to_ evaluate five. subjects by evaluating speech, notor ccordination, nystagmus (eye novmont) and bruath odor. Trainee evaluations were cmgared against the actual data collected ly the Patrol during the training to gauge the accuracy of the trainees' observations. Training also consisted cf Fansas flighway Patrol training videos and lecture natorials.
R-ary of events reported under 10 Cm 26.73. There were no reportable events under 10 CPR 26.73 during this reporting period.
