As a result of NRC I&E Bulletin 82-03, Georgia Power Company is required to submit a response by December 1, 1982 for the inservice inspection of Reactor Recirculation System piping currently being performed for Hatch Unit 1.
Several rejectable indications have been observed using ultrasonic techniques on the aforementioned piping which necessitates that additional examinations be performed.
These additional examinations are currently in progress and their results require evaluation.
In lieu of submitting a response by December 1, 1982 which would require updating after completion of the additional examinations, Georgia Power Company requests that a two (2) week extension be granted.
Submittal by December 15, 1982 would allow adequate time to complete the additional examinations and their evaluation.
The requested extension was discussed with Mr. H. Dance of your staff on November 24, 1982 by Mr.
S. C.
Ewald, Georgia Power Company.
Mr. Dance indicated that submittal of the response to the subject bulletin by December 15, 1982 would be acceptable.
