Umerick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2 Completion of Shoreham Fuel Transfer Activities Gentlemen:
The purpose of this letter is to inform the NRC that PECO Energy Company and Long Island Power Authority (UPA) have completed transferring the 560 slightly irrradiated fuel bundle assemblies from UPA's Shoreham Nuclear Power Station to PECO Energy's Umerick Generating Station (LGS). The fuel transfer activities commenced on September 24,1993, when the first fuel shipment departed Shoreham Nuclear Power Station. The fuel transfer activities were completed on June 5,1994, when the last of 33 fuel shipments arrived at LGS, three (3) months ahead of schedule. Each shipment involved transporting the fuel assemblies by barge from the Shoreham Nuclear Power Station to PECO Energy's Eddystone Generating Station, and then by dedicated train to LGS.. The 560 fuel assemblies were transported safely and without incident.
